Summer snacks? Yes, we all need them. Here are my top 10 ideas.

During the summer, some are busier than any other time of the year.

And others have more free time for cooking, baking and creating snacks.

I’m giving you a blend of pre-packaged, on-the-go ideas and things you can make on your own so that you can choose whatever works best for you.

Summer Days: Pre-Packaged Items

Most of the pre-packaged items on the top 10 summer snack ideas list can be found in my free Travel and Convenience Snack Guide Companion, which hosts almost 200 products that I have broken down for you into categories like gluten free, dairy free, Paleo, Vegan, Organic, SCD, AIP etc. (+ have also included total grams of sugar and total net carb counts).

Patagonia Provisions, Wild Sockeye Salmon, Original

Here’s the deal, sometimes you need and/or want a snack that has more meal-like substance. I get it, trust me.

This salmon is perfect for that.

As a bonus, it’s salmon – which is one of the most perfect foods on the plant, IMO.

boomCHOCOboom Dark Life Chocolate Bar

Enjoy Life makes the best chocolate bars that are allergy-friendly.

I have featured this one in a top low-FODMAP list HERE. So yes, these are also low-FODMAP.

If you are low-FODMAP and love snacks like this, see THIS post for many more ideas.

Lupini Beans

Lupini Beans are such a delightful, portable snack. The BRAMI brand is my favorite.

BRAMI Beans are sprouted, marinated in savory seasonings, and packed fresh out of the barrel.

They are: soy-free, keto-friendly, (even) Paleo-friendly, non-GMO, and they contain prebiotics. You can learn more about them HERE. I get mine (in fact, just ordered more of these and the next item on this list) from Thrive Market.

Spudsy Sweet Potato Puffs, Crunchy Cinnamon

Actually can’t get enough of these.

Beware – though this is a snack, it can be easy to eat the whole bag in one sitting. They are addicting.

I tend to order 2 bags with each Thrive Market order. They are gluten-free, non-GMO, and Vegan. And they are free from the top 8 allergens.

Nutiva Organic Chocolate Hazelnut Spread

Move over Nutella. No, seriously….move over Nutella.

This Organic Chocolate Hazelnut Spread is going to knock your socks off. The product comes in a Classic and Dark (gluten and dairy free), and is also available in single-serve squeeze packs.

You can grab a jar or pack and pair it with fruit, crackers, in smoothies, oatmeal, etc. for the perfect summer snack. (Alternatively, try Suntella HERE. It is high in fiber, nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, and contains no hydrogenated oils. It is sweetened with Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener which has zero calories and is zero-glycemic. DIY Homemade Summer Snack Ideas

AIP Bread

I realize this is a plug for a paid recipe of mine (you can also find it in The Leaky Gut Meal Plan if you have the book), but I’m telling you….this is, hands down, one of our favorite snacks that we enjoy at home and take with us on the road frequently.

My AIP Bread recipe is one recipe with two different outcomes, depending on your mood. There is a sweet banana bread version and a starchy, more savory, version. Take your pick, then eat it plain and/or pair it with anything you’d like.

And yes, you could turn it into a salmon sandwich using the salmon from above.

Ice Pops

No top 10 summer snack ideas list would be complete without ice pops because summer demands cool treats.

This Mint Chocolate Popsicles recipe was taken from the summer eats, treats and desserts e-book (which is also filled with summer snacking ideas).

Listen, no one has ever been able to deny ice pop on a hot, summer day. Even if you need to be dairy-free, this recipe has got you covered!

Smoothies

Morning, noon or night, a smoothie will always be a good summer snack idea. I have made countless smoothie recipes over the years.

Take your pick from some favorites: 5-Ingredient Strawberry Pina Colada Smoothie Recipe and 7 Days of Smoothies Challenge.

Paleo Coffee Popsicle Recipe

Whipped coffee to popsicle.

This is a recipe I stumbled upon by pure chance during the spring. Now that summer has arrirved, it’s golden. Coffee meets cooling.

Kid Friendly: Homemade Trail Mix for Kids

I created this video quite some time back, but I still do these trail mixes to this day

They are simple, healthy, and convenient.

And there you have it….summer snacks, my top 10 summer snack ideas.

Now go, play, enjoy, eat, live, munch, snack, love.
