Today is just about some real talk. I’m here for it; hope you are, too.

Back in 2008/2009 when I started writing for you (and for me), it was always real talk.

In fact, I never shared my research though the website.

Instead, I was simply going through the healing motions….sharing my truths; what I was doing – what was and was not working – all of it.

And then, in 2012, my writing journey through healing officially became A Gutsy Girl.

In fact, it was April 11, 2012 when I wrote, The End of This Road.

And then, we submitted for the A Gutsy Girl trademark in 2019 (to which it then became official!)

And here I am today – it’s almost 2024.

So where do I stand?

What’s on my mind?

What even is A Gutsy Girl?

I told you that today is for the real talk.

It’s not for giving you information born out of hundreds – thousands at that – hours of research on the gut.

And it’s not to give you a how-to do almost anything for healing your gut.

This is just some real talk.

Gut Health has EXPLODED!

In case you have been living under a rock, let me tell you that the topic of gut health and gut healing have exploded.

And while I’ve never veered from my path because the topic and conversation has exploded there are hundreds (thousands!) that have come into this world.

Rarely do I let things in this realm (my business in the gut health world) fester inside of me for long, but something now has……

The influx of people and accounts “riding the wave.”

Every. Single. Day. when I join in on the doomscrolling that is Facebook and Instagram, I’m taken to a PAID AD for someone talking all about gut health and inviting you into their product, course, etc.

And the latest truly did stop me in my scroll.

It was someone who has “rebranded” into a “gut health expert.” Her words were mine and because it all looked so familiar, I just had to look her up.

Sure enough, she was following me (I was not following her), and furthermore as I went down the rabbithole I saw that most of her content was mine (just spun off into a semi-different direction).

In an instant, I was furious.

But I just let it sit for some time to understand why I was furious.

And then it dawned on me…..

Because I have put my whole heart and life into this for roughly 16 years.

Because I invested the time and money into a TRADEMARK.

And because I chose to spend more time and more money on true research and resources for helping this community vs. on paid ads to get you to take any sort of action (BTW – I have YET to ever spend a dime on ads).

But then I let it go.

And here’s what I want you to know and take from this today….

  1. There is nothing easy about healing your gut. To all the “gut gurus” out there there who will sell you the shiny object, please know that it isn’t the way. If it were easy and healing was imminent no matter what then it would not have taken me so long to heal.
  2. Ads are not the enemy, intention is. When you see an ad pop up in your feed (you’ll know it’s an ad because the word sponsored will attach to it), exercise caution. Whether it’s for a program or product, do your research. Who is selling it and what is their intention?
  3. What is the track record? Look the person up. How long have they been in this space? WHO have they HELPED? I realize that everyone has to start somewhere, but there is something to be said for validation through years of research and hard work.

Because people have massive gut health problems….

There is also a massive market for selling to them.

  • The American College of Gastroenterology states that 10-15% of people in the USA have IBS.
  • Nature Reviews Gastroenterology & Hepatology states that, “Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common disorders of gut–brain interaction, estimated to affect around 1 in 10 people globally.”
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that, “An estimated 3.1 million adults (1.3%) in the United States have been diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.”
  • And, according to the EFCCA, “there are 10 million people worldwide living with IBD. However, this may be higher — if the same prevalence of 1% or more that is true in the UK and the US applies to most other western countries.”

So yes, yes WE ARE SICK.

And yes, yes there ARE people who are desperate for the solution.

But today, I’m here to tell you, yet again….

There is nothing easy about healing your gut.

And, as someone who has been around this block for longer than some of these stats have been available – and certainly longer than people have been talking about the very basic concept of GUT HEALTH VS GUT HEALING — you should know —

I want the best for you.

While I have had my tagline, Heal your gut. Heal your life. for years already (yes, another thing that has been copied all over the place), I do stand by it now more than ever.

…..because this is the truth that I personally experienced for myself and personally witness with the hundreds of women I help worldwide on a daily basis.

  • I healed my gut
  • …..and my life
  • Then I lost my dad to Colon Cancer
  • …..and so I continued to simply do the things – the real things – that would change your life.

You won’t find paid ads leading to these, but I guarantee you’ll still reap the benefits 🙂

  1. Gut Healing: ELEVATED
  2. My gut healing journaling SYSTEM
  3. The supplement line I created in conjunction with an 18-person “science team”
