Today I’m going to teach you how to make your own lemonade.
Because I hate drinking water.
There, I said it. I hate drinking water. I don’t know why, but drinking water is an absolute chore for me, and like most chores, we only do them once it’s absolutely necessary.
I started getting this awful pinching headache last week. It always began later in the day, but it felt like I was on the verge of a migraine or something, and I typically never get headaches.
Ryan and I went over all the things it could be from, and to see if it would help, I simply drank more water.
These past few weeks my workouts have been really hard, and I am certain that I haven’t been drinking enough water. Even though recent research indicates we don’t need 8 glasses of water, if I am to be honest with you, I was likely consuming 2-3 glasses (tops) per day, even the days I worked out.
Too little water is not good for anything, and so I have vowed to drink more water daily.
I started immediately (which has only been a couple of days). My headache went away, and I feel better overall.
The trick for me was to flavor the water just perfectly plus have that flavor available 24/7. If you’re like me, you should try this today.

Items Used
- The Pioneer Woman Simple Homemade Goodness Double 1-Gallon Twin Set Drink Dispenser with Ice Bucket, 2 Mini Chalk Boards and Chalk Pencil
- Water
- Lemons (+ lemon squeezer)
- Trader Joe’s Organic Liquid Stevia
- Organic Blueberries (optional, we get ours frozen at Costco)
Note: You might love The Pioneer Woman, I am not a fan. But I have to say, we love, love, love this drink dispenser set. I bought it for Samarah’s 2nd birthday party, and now we are finding everyday uses for it. Besides the fact that it’s practical, it is super stinkin’ cute.
Steps for DIY Lemonade
- Fill drink dispenser with water.
- Cut lemons in half, and using the lemon squeezer, squeeze out the juice directly into drink dispenser. (Your question is, “How many lemons?” My answer is, “Decide via taste test.” For one large dispenser like this, I used about 12 medium lemons.)
- Add several drops of the Organic Liquid Stevia. Stop, stir, and taste test. You do not want it to be too sweet, so stop often for tasting to get your perfect formula.
- The last step is optional (but not optional for me because I love this natural flavoring addition): add in about 1/2 c. organic blueberries.
- Do your final stir, taste, place the lid on and pour yourself a glass, then two, three, four…..
{Updated in 2017: I don’t use Stevia anymore because of THIS, however, this recipe is fantastic with Monkfruit.}
If you have digestive issues, all these whole, real and unprocessed lemons are a major bonus. I think you’re going to love it. Ryan, Samarah, and I sure do!
Now, if you’d rather have a DIY Lemonade for Constipation recipe, I have that, too. Grab it HERE.
