That level of concentration matters, as you’re not just sprinkling in a little mushroom dust and calling it a day. This is a serious amount of mushroom potency in every single drink.

My Honest Take on the Taste
I’ll be real with you: I was worried. “Salted caramel mushroom drink” sounds like something that could go very wrong, very fast. I braced for something that tasted like dirt with a faint caramel whisper.
I was completely wrong.
It tastes exactly like you’d expect a salted caramel drink to taste. Genuinely good. Like, “I’m actually looking forward to this in the morning” good.
I’ve been adding it to hot water as a coffee replacement, and sometimes I’ll mix in my Chocolate Caramel LMNT electrolytes on top of it for a little extra something. [P.S.: this combo is SO good.]
Most people probably blend this into a smoothie, and I imagine it works beautifully there too. But if you’re trying to cut back on coffee without giving up a warm, satisfying morning ritual, adding Mushroom Breakthrough to hot water is genuinely a great option.

What’s in Mushroom Breakthrough? (Full Ingredient Breakdown)
Active Ingredients: Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus), Chaga Extract (fruiting body), Bovine Collagen, Marine Collagen, Cordyceps Extract (mycelium), Reishi Extract (fruiting body).
Other Ingredients: Organic Cashew Nut Milk Powder (Organic Cashew Kernel, Organic Tapioca Maltodextrin), Coconut Oil Powder (Coconut Oil, Acacia Gum), Organic Natural Flavor (Organic Dextrose and Natural Flavors), Medium Chain Triglycerides Powder (MCT Oil, Gum Acacia), Light Grey Celtic® Sea Salt, Himalayan Salt, Organic Monk Fruit Extract, Thaumatin Powder.
A few things worth noting here: the MCT oil powder is a nice addition for sustained energy, and the cashew milk base keeps it dairy-free without any weird aftertaste. The combination of Celtic sea salt and Himalayan salt alongside monk fruit extract gives you that salty-sweet flavor profile without any artificial sweeteners.
HOWEVER, I am not a fan that there is maltodextrin, acacia gum, dextrose, and “natural flavors.”
And I simply cannot sugarcoat that one for you.
That being said, my gut had zero problems with it, which tells me it’s likely a low concentration of them.
The Research Behind the Mushrooms
Lion’s Mane
Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is probably the most researched of the four mushrooms in this blend when it comes to brain health.
Its bioactive compounds, hericenones and erinacines, have been shown in preclinical studies to promote the synthesis of nerve growth factor (NGF), which regulates the growth and survival of brain cells. [source]
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 41 healthy adults aged 18 to 45, a single dose of Lion’s Mane resulted in faster speed of performance on cognitive testing at 60 minutes post-dose, and 28 days of supplementation showed a trend toward reduced subjective stress. [source]
A separate placebo-controlled trial of 30 adults with mild cognitive impairment found that 16 weeks of Lion’s Mane supplementation resulted in significantly improved cognitive performance compared to the placebo group. [source]
It’s worth noting that most of the human clinical trials to date have been relatively small, and researchers acknowledge that larger, longer-term studies are still needed.
I believe in being transparent about that. But the preliminary evidence is promising, and traditional use of this mushroom spans centuries across East Asian medicine.
Chaga
Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a fungus that grows primarily on birch trees in cold climates. It’s been used in traditional medicine across Russia and Northern Europe for centuries and is rich in antioxidants, including polyphenols and betulinic acid.
