I’m no stranger to the topic of autoimmune disease.

I was in my 20’s when I was diagnosed with Colitis, inflammatory bowel disease. In particular, Proctitis, which is a type of ulcerative colitis that affects the lowest part of the colon – the rectum. 

At the time, I never researched “best autoimmune supplements” because I simply just took the advice of Western medicine that diet, lifestyle, and supplements would not likely help.

So instead, I didn’t pay attention to diet, opting instead for Canasa and whole bottles of magnesium citrate.

Spoiler alert: I did NOT improve. Instead, I only got worse.

But over time, I got tired of staying sick and tired, so I took it ALL into my own hands.

And then I started making real progress.

What are Autoimmune Conditions?

Before I share more, I want to start with what autoimmune disorders are and what they do to the body.

First, the definition of an autoimmune condition is when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys healthy body tissue by mistake. They can affect one or more organ or tissues types.

I’ve written about autoimmune disease incidence a ton on this website, so just SEARCH for it, and you’ll find so many more resources and information.

Vitamin D

Increasing evidence demonstrates a strong association between vitamin D signaling and many biological processes that regulate immune responses.

Curcumin

Probiotics

One of the major mechanisms of probiotic action is through the regulation of host immune response. source

N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)

NAC is an anti-oxidant drug that improves the disease’s activity by blocking the mammalian target of the rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway in T cells. An animal study also found that administering aminothiol compounds like NAC and cysteamine (CYST) improved the disease’s outcome in mouse models of lupus.
