I get asked questions about many different things, so I have put together a massive FAQ. This is not an exhaustive list so please feel free to contact me with any further questions you might have.

When did you come up with A Gutsy Girl.

I officially launched the name on April 11, 2012, after a long few years battling all things gut and then infertility with the culmination of a failed round of IVF. I’d love to say it was me who named the site, but it wasn’t. It was my good friend and web designer, Brian Gardner.

Where do you live?

After spending 11 years in Northern California, my husband and I moved our family home to a small town in Southern Minnesota…..where my heart always was.

Where are you from?

I’m from the homeskillet Minnesota. (I have always referred to it as that.) I grew up in the country, on gravel roads. My roots are firmly planted in the heart of the Midwest. It’s the reason we returned.

How long have you been Gluten Free?

Since June 20, 2010.

Do you have Celiac?

No.

Are you a Nutritionist?

I am a Certified Holistic Health Coach. I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and I am certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.

Are you a Certified Personal Trainer?

No. A long time ago I began studying through the NSCA, but I never finished. Life and other priorities took over.

I’m Gluten Free. Now what?

I strive to help people with this daily. Here is a good place to start.

What are some of your favorite Gut Healing Posts?

Will you review my product/service/app?

The answer to this can be found under my Disclaimer. If, after reading it, you still think it might be a fit, please contact me.

I have tried everything. I can’t figure out what my stomach is still reacting to. What should I do?

Read “The Gutsy Girl’s Bible: an approach to healing the gut.” And also, stop playing doctor, and get a real diagnosis

Why do you no longer do 1-on-1 health coaching?

I loved providing very individualistic help, but my passion is more on detailed research to provide information for the masses.

What Supplements do you take or recommend?

I finally put together a list of them. Click HERE to grab it.

Which diet do you think is best?

None. I don’t believe in “diet.” Instead, I believe in foods that contribute to your overall lifestyle….foods that help us heal, thrive and grow. A diet is simply just the sum of all the foods we eat, and so the one in which you follow should be the one that helps you achieve your unique optimal health. That said, I pull from and am educated on over 100 different dietary theories. If there is a theory you are interested in learning more about, studying and practicing, I can help you understand it.

Why won’t you tell me what you eat every single day?

I refuse to do this because what works for me will likely not work 100% for you. As I have healed throughout my journey, the foods I consume on a daily basis have changed. In the beginning, strict GAPS/Paleo/SCD. Today? Almost anything, whenever I’m feeling it.

Could something other than food be contributing to my digestive distress?

Yes. Remember, I believe in the power of viewing the body as a whole unit. The gut is not a separate piece to the genetic makeup. I look at primary and secondary foods. These include spirituality, physical activity, career, relationships and food.

I’m interested in going to The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Can you give me more, personalized information about it?

I’m happy to! You can find information here, download from me your very own copy of the Integrative Nutrition eBook (which contains recipes such as the Tofu Scramble and Baked Bananas) or simply contact me and ask any questions you wish!

Have more questions? Submit them HERE, and I’ll add to this running list.
