Today I’m sharing 11 gut and hormone supplements I take (or have taken).

From the supplement and medication tool box post, I am no longer taking Atrantil (I don’t need to, in complete SIBO remission – yassss!) and I forget a lot to take the bitters (though I should not).

I take the magnesium sometimes, but only if I’m feeling overly stressed. I do still take the probiotic, Beta-TCP, Cod Liver Oil, and the HCL. I’m not currently taking the B12, but I toggle on that.

Additionally, I’m still taking LDN and WP-Thyroid, and I might take both the rest of my life (well actually, I am considering trying to wean off the LDN in the next few months after I discuss with my doctor).

I share these 10 gut and hormone supplements so that if there are some you think could help you, you can bring them to your doctor’s attention and/or do more research on your own.

    1. From above….probiotic, Beta-TCP, Cod Liver Oil, and HCL

Everything on these four supplements is the same except for the HCL, which I’m about to reduce to 3 per meal and I only tend to take 1-2 times per day now. By the way, the probiotic is the best for leaky gut. And I did the research to back it up.

    2. L-Glutamine

I’ve written an entire post on L-Glutamine for Gut Healing, so if you haven’t read it yet, you can do so HERE. This is a daily staple currently (I’ve even added it to my Bullet Journal “Habits” sheet), and I won’t stop anytime soon.

    3. Ox Bile

When I have fattier meals, I take one. I tend to take this only 1-2 times per day.

    4. Calcium D-Glucarate

I take one capsule two times per day. My doctors have me using this for two main reasons: To prevent recycling of environmental toxins and hormones back into the liver, aiding in their elimination from the body, and to supports healthy hormone metabolism. I am still going through testing to determine more about toxins and mold exposure, but for now, this has been a great place to start. 10 Gut and Hormone Supplements sarahkayhoffman.com Calcium D Glucarate

    5. Adrenal Glandular

(This one is powerful, so please do not take it without consulting with your doctor first. Yes, even if you can just buy it on your own.) First. What is it? 3 capsules provide the equivalent of one-quarter once of fresh, raw whole adrenal and one-quarter once of fresh raw whole liver. It is used for those with adrenal, hormonal and other fatigue issues. For me, it was a game changer.

I was taking 3 for quite some time but I was way too wired. I was naturally waking up around midnight and then 3-4 am and staying up for the day. It was not good for me, so I reduced down to 2 (my doctor said I’d need 2-3, and she told me to monitor it). But taking 2 first thing in the morning has been amazing (now I only wake up around 4 am each morning and that’s perfectly okay with me)! 10 Gut and Hormone Supplements sarahkayhoffman.com Adrenal Glandular

    6. Dim Detox

I take one capsule first thing in the morning. It helps to promote healthy cell cycle function and hormone metabolism to support the liver’s natural detoxification process and cellular health. 10 Gut and Hormone Supplements sarahkayhoffman.com Beta-TCP and Dim Detox

    7. Collagen and Gelatin

I use them as supplements, and try to take one or the other or both daily. They are easy additions, and the days we make bread, I get more than enough because we eat the batch in one sitting. No judging. This is all in the name of healing the gut 🙂

Results

Positive. Yes, I’m still going strong!

These 11 gut and hormone supplements on their own didn’t “heal” me. But they have helped, for sure. The sum of everything I’ve been doing has been greater than the parts.

I take the supplements, and medications.

I changed my beauty and skincare products to THIS safer skincare.

Somedays I eat less, and some days more.

Sometimes it’s fairly AIP Paleo, and other times it’s just gluten-free, non-GMO “junk.”

But never, not for one second have I sat back and said, “Nope. Not worth it.” Because, on the whole, I feel phenomenal every single day.

I am living proof of what I preach.

  1. Even though the Equilibrium probiotics only contains 1 billion cfu’so do you find it as effective as ones with much higher counts? I am constantly searching for a good probiotics as I have the worst stomach. Thanks.

    1. Hi, Ashleigh! I think this depends entirely on where you at on your journey. In fact, when I was in any kind of flare up, I chose not to take ANY probiotic at all because I found it only made it worse. I have also taken 100 billion at times. Right now, the 1 billion is perfect for me. I’m scared to do anything else because of how great I’m feeling!

  2. Thank you so much!! This is so helpful!!! It sounds like we are on similar supplements but different brands – my doctor uses Standard Processes. I’m interested to see how the calcium d-glucarte goes for you! They had me try Bovine and it went horrible now trying to heal the pituitary gland. I’m going to start your l-glutamine!
